Episode 73

In this episode, the Sick Man talks about the ancient Greek concept of hubris; an excess of pride that distorts judgment and pushes individuals and systems beyond their limits; how certainty can override caution, and how ambition, when left unchecked, begins to reshape reality in ways that can’t be ignored. Using myth, literature, history, and personal experience, this episode looks at hubris as both a personal and collective force, something that appears whenever people or institutions begin to believe they are beyond consequence.

As the episode unfolds, it builds toward a broader warning: hubris carries a cost, even when it’s not immediately visible. When limits are ignored and accountability fades, consequences have a way of arriving on their own terms. And in the end, no matter how far someone believes they’ve risen, there is always the growing inevitability of reckoning.
